- What happens in Stage 1 of sleep?
NREM Stage 1 -During this stage you can be awakened easily. Your body begins to relax, you are aware of sounds but unwilling to respond, and your reaction time is comparable to intoxication.
- What happens in Stage 2 of sleep?
NREM Stage 2 – At this point you disengage from your surroundings, brain activity slows down and body temperature falls. You enter a state of total relaxation, and you start preparing for deeper sleep.
- What happens in Stage 3 of sleep?
NREM Stage 3 – Here is when the growth hormone is released and your body does most of its repair work, tissue growth and regeneration.
- What happens in Stage 4 of sleep?
NREM Stage 4 – During this stage intense dreams occur. This is the time for your brain to file what is needed vs what is stored away. You are very likely to sleep through noise and movements without showing any reaction.
Why might I need to correct my sleeping patterns?
Quality sleep is the foundation for all other areas of health. Without it your body cannot heal itself, cleanse itself, nor protect itself.
